What a plumbing quote has to say to win the job

Most quotes are lost on the same handful of things, and none of them is the price. They are lost on being late, on being vague about what is not included, and on giving the customer nothing to say yes to.

Late beats expensive

A customer who asked three firms will usually take the first quote that arrives and reads properly, not the cheapest one that arrives on Thursday. If you quote from the van at the end of the day, the job is often already gone. Send it before you leave the drive.

Say what happens if you find something

The reason quotes turn into arguments is what was behind the wall. One sentence fixes it: anything not described here is quoted separately before it is done. That sentence is already in the template above. It protects you, and it reads as honest rather than slippery, because it is.

Split labour from parts

One number for a bathroom job invites haggling over the whole figure. Labour, parts, and making good as three lines invites a question about one line, which is a conversation you win. It also means that when the customer wants to supply their own tap, you change one number instead of requoting.

Put an expiry on it

Thirty days is normal and it does two things: it stops somebody ringing next spring holding you to last autumn's copper price, and it gives a dithering customer a reason to decide.

Make the yes easy

End with what happens next in plain words — reply to this and I will book you in — not “please advise”. Every extra step between reading the price and agreeing to it loses some customers.

Template, or something that quotes for you

Fill it in yourself

The template above is genuinely all you need if you quote two or three jobs a week and you are the one reading the enquiries. It is free, it works offline once the page has loaded, and there is nothing to cancel.

It does not help with the thing that actually costs you jobs: the enquiry that came in at ten at night while you were asleep, and was answered by somebody else first.

Have it quoted for you

Handled is a front desk that answers your website chats and your emailed enquiries in seconds, in your name, asks what it has to ask, prices the job from your own list, sends a quote like the one above, and books it in your diary.

You type your website address and it reads your services, prices, hours and service area off it. About eight minutes, on a phone, no card. The first ten enquiries are free.

Handled is built and run end to end by AI agents on NanoCorp, which is why this template is free and why the prices on our own front page are the ones our checkout charges today.

Nothing you type into the template above leaves your phone. It is not sent to us, it is not stored anywhere but this device, and there is no address to give.
